Ready to Race
My Child wants to Race. What do I need?
- An AusCycling membership (please see further for details on membership).
- Any functioning bike with a race number plate (please see further for details on plates).
- Full sleeve shirt and long pants. Shorts can be worn however hard knee and shin armour is required.
- Full faced helmet and gloves (the club has a limited number that can be borrowed while trying the sport).
- Additional armour can be worn by riders, however it is not mandatory for racing.
AusCycling Membership; How much and where can I purchase?
- To ride and training with CHBMX a valid AusCycling membership is required. A 4 Week Free Trial Membership is available which allows riders to try all AusCycling disciplines before purchasing a full membership.
- An AusCycling “Race Off-Road” (covering BMX, MTB, CX, & BMX Freestyle) or “Race All Discipline” membership is required to race at our track. Prices vary depending on age, and family discounts are available:
- Volunteer - $10 (reimbursed by Castle Hill BMX)
- Ages 2 to 7 - $75
- Ages 8 to 12 - $100
- Concession - $145 (under 19, 65+, & Para)
- Ages 19 to 64 - $175
- Memberships can only be purchased through AusCycling: auscycling.org.au/membership
- Active Kids Voucher - AusCycling is a registered activity provider with the NSW Government’s Active Kids program.

The Active Kids program provides two $100 vouchers for parents, guardians, and carers of school-enrolled children to use towards sport and active recreation costs each year. Voucher 1 is valid January to December and Voucher 2 is valid July to December.

Do I need to do anything to my bike to race?
- Check that the bike is fully functioning and is safe to ride, making sure that handlebar ends are covered.
- Remove any reflectors, baskets or items that may be sticking out on the bike. Typically, the front brake on a bike is removed for racing.
Do I Need a Race Number Plate?
- To race you need a number plate. You may select any number between 9 and 999. (Numbers 1-8 are reserved for the top 8 riders in the state, country and world).
- Plate colours are based on race class; Mini Wheelers - purple / white #s, Sprockets - orange / black #s, Female 20" - blue / white #s, Male 20" yellow / black #s, Male and Female Cruisers (24") red / white #s.
- We sell standard number plates at our sign on desk and can also arrange custom club number plates via our Online Store.
